Cuba / Havana & Vinales

Cuba is a country comprising the island of Cuba as well as Isla de la Juventud and several minor archipelagos. Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean where the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean meet.

Even though Cuba hasn't been my most recent travel destination I still remember every single detail and the travel showed me a completely different world. This was such an impulsive idea! One day I was siting at my CAE preparation class and I got an email from my mom if I don't want to get away from the cold city of Prague and make a girls trip. Sure, I said and expected something like the Canary Islands. But no, she had bigger plans (I am not complaining, just to make sure!) and three weeks later we were already on our way

Castro and Che Guevara everywhere! This particular is from the Revolution Square, Havana.

Inside the most famous bar/restaurant in the entire country! The real Bodeguita del Medio, where Ernest Hemingway used to drink his mojitos. Guess what we got there? Mojitos! And the most typical Cuban dish - Congri and Ropa Vieja, which is slow cooked beef with tomatoes, garlic and fresh herbs. It is simply delicious! To be honest, in Cuba I almost only ate congri.

If you are in Cuba, do yourself a favor and go see the cabaret show; Tropicana! You want to do an extra favor? Go eat dinner at the Diplomatic House in Havana where they serve amazing skewers with congri (rice and black beans) or amazing sea food!

But honestly, don't bail out on Tropicana. We arrived, had one sleep - felt completely jet lagged but managed to go and oh my god! If we didn't have to go to Vinales the day after I would have stayed for the after party till late night. The ticket is quite expensive especially if you want to sit in a good place (recommended!), then it costs about 120 euros. You get a bottle of Cuban rum and a cigar which you can enjoy while watching the amazing dances and acrobatic scenes. Seriously, this is a must when in Cuba!

Another must! 23 cigars for simple 10euros. Not that we finished them all, but at least we tried it.

Wen you eat so much that you just sit there, trying to digest - yet not feeling ashamed because the Cuban cuisine is so amazing!
This is such a ... special piece of art. I don't particularly think it will be in my list of favorites.
