How I (almost) went to the highest mountain in the CZ

Easter is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead - a time where most Europeans eat a lot and take advantage of the free days to either spend time with your family or to for example leave the city and find peace in the nature.

Just like I did!

I have been living in the Czech Republic for several years - and it was only half a year ago I actually went to the highest mountains in the country. But! I had yet not been to the highest mountain itself - so the plan for Easter was clear! Reserve a cute spa hotel close by, hope for good weather (meaning at least no rain) and mentally prepare for the narrow roads on the way.

After all of this was done and we had checked in at the hotel - of course enjoyed some spa relaxation - it was time to conquer the highest mountain - Snezka! To be honest, this was easier said than done.
I myself am no hiking fanatic and the only way I was willing to get up there was with the lift.

It was 1,5 kilometers from the small city to the lift and those few steps went by really quick. The mood was good untill we figured that the lift was not going all the way up because of strong weather.
Only three choices where left for us; turn around and leave, take the lift to the mid point and walk 3,5 kilometers to the top of the mountains or walk the whole way up.

Guess what we did.

We turned around - and because it would be too embarrassing just to leave like that - we went at least to the largest valley in the mountains. So I guess the meeting of me and the mountain Snezka is not supposed to happen yet. We waved from the distance and I wished her strength - very much needed with the wind that is crossing the country.

Tak zatim. Mej se krasne, Snezko!
